New Paintings and Drawings by Florence Moonan and Carol Sanzalone

Every now and then artists need to shake things up a bit. Carol and I will be doing just that with our new exhibition of paintings and drawings at Artists’ Gallery, October 9 through November 1, 2009. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, October 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. Or, join us for the cider and donuts closing reception on Sunday, November 1 between 2 and 5 p.m.

I will be showing charcoal drawings using methods of mark making taught at Bunker Hill Studio workshops by renowned painter, Pat Martin. I will also be exhibiting dramatic poured works in oil. These techniques show ingenuity and a fresh inventiveness that makes the work in this show grab your attention.

Carol, working in watercolor and acrylic on paper and canvas, captures the graphic impact of light and shadows to create surfaces and color patterns that enrich the everyday images that inspire her work. Her artistic journey has included many years of experimenting with color and texture, and these recent innovative paintings will be a major part of the work included in this show.

Both New Jersey natives, we find the diverse cultural, historical and natural beauty of the region continually stimulates our creative endeavors.  This is evident when viewing our work side by side. Carol's paintings respond to the environment, while my works are largely drawn on autobiographical experiences.

Artists’ Gallery is located at 32 Coryell Street, Lambertville, NJ and is open Friday through Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., or by appointment. For all other information call 609.397.4588 or visit www.lambertvillearts.com.
